Mrs Baird’s Bakery founder, Ninnie Baird, always shared her freshly-baked bread with her neighbors in need. That community involvement continues today as Mrs Baird’s will help Texans in need this holiday season by donating freshly-baked loaves of bread to the Houston Food Bank, the San Antonio Food Bank and Capital Area Food Bank. This much needed bread donation will go to help many families in need this holiday season.

The first of many donations kicked-off on November 25 at the Houston Food Bank. Mrs Baird’s arrived with a delivery truck loaded with freshly-baked loaves from the Houston baking facility. The truck was unloaded and two Houston Food Bank member agencies – Impact Houston and Target Hunger – were on-site to take delivery of 750 loaves each for immediate distribution to their clients. Mrs Baird’s also made personal deliveries to two other food bank partner agencies following the event at the food bank – Kids Meals and the Star of Hope Family.

“We are very excited to be able to donate 20,000 loaves of freshly-baked bread to the Houston Food Bank this holiday season,” said Dave White, director of sales for Mrs Baird’s. “We’ve been a part of the Houston community for more than 76 years and want to do our part to help curb hunger in our city.”

The next stop, December 3, will help Southwest Texans in need with the donation of 20,000 loaves of bread to the San Antonio Food Bank. The San Antonio Food Bank feeds nearly 58,000 people each week and has distributed more than 48 million pounds of food in the last year. The San Antonio Food Bank estimates there are 350,000 people living at or below the poverty line in its distribution area. Mrs Baird’s delivered the first 3,000 loaves of bread to the food bank on December 3rd, and will continue to provide the San Antonio Food Bank with its nutritious 100% Whole Wheat and made with Whole Grain White breads throughout the holiday season.

“We bake here, work here and live here in the San Antonio area. We are very excited to help our own community which has given so much to us over the years,” said Mrs Baird’s Director of Sales Jim Meisel. “We are honored this bread will help local families in need during the holiday and into the new year.”

On December 4, Mrs Baird’s will help Central Texans in need by donating 10,000 loaves of bread to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. More than 48,000 Austin area people receive assistance from the food bank each week; of those more than 40 percent are children. In the past 12 months, the Capital Area Food Bank has distributed more than 29 million pounds of food. Mrs Baird’s delivered the first 3,000 loaves of bread to the food bank on December 4th, and will continue to provide the Capital Area Food Bank with its nutritious 100% Whole Wheat and made with Whole Grain White breads throughout the holiday season.

“As a long-standing member in the Austin community, we are proud to continue our partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank. We are very excited to help our local community which has given so much to us over the years,” said Mrs Baird’s Director of Sales Jim Meisel. “We are honored this bread will help Central Texas families during the holiday and into the new year.”

In addition to the bread donations, Mrs Baird’s is also making a monetary donation of $5,000 to theTexas Food Bank Network (TFBN). The TFBN advocates for all 21 food banks in the state of Texas covering all 254 counties.
